Aimio is built to work without knowing anything about you. This page explains exactly what that means in practice, not just in principle.
When you open Aimio, it looks for TVs on the same Wi-Fi network your iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch is connected to, using each manufacturer's own discovery protocol (for example Bonjour/mDNS, or the brand's native pairing flow). Once paired, Aimio sends remote-control commands — power, volume, navigation, and so on — directly to your TV's IP address on your local network.
No command, pairing token, or TV information is ever sent to Aimio's developer, to any analytics service, or to any third party. There is no server in between. If your Wi-Fi network is offline, Aimio has nothing to talk to and nothing to send anywhere else.
Aimio stores the following information locally, on your device only:
None of this data is transmitted off your device by Aimio. If you use iCloud device backup or iCloud Keychain, iOS may include this local data in your own personal backup the same way it would for any app's local data — that is a feature of your device and your Apple ID, not something Aimio initiates or has access to.
Aimio Pro purchases (the annual subscription and the one-time lifetime purchase) are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store's StoreKit framework. Aimio never sees or stores your payment card details, billing address, or Apple ID password. Apple's own Privacy Policy governs the transaction itself.
Aimio does not request access to your contacts, photos, microphone (beyond the optional Siri/Voice Control features you explicitly enable), location, or any other data category not listed above.
Aimio is a utility app not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, regardless of age — there is no data collection to begin with.
If this policy ever changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change with it, and the new version will be posted here before it takes effect.
